The Minnesota Twins have finally tied the Detroit Tigers for first place in the American League Central. Joe Mauer went 1-4 with a nasty home run in the 9th inning to put the Twins on top of the Royals.

Joe Mauer is the man. By going 1-4 he lowered his batting average to .349 (which is still amazing!). The homerun was his 13th of the year.

Mauer’s homerun production might have been down this year, but I would look for him to bounce back next season to that 20 home run level. He’s never been a true power hitter, but with more seasons under his belt and after seeing these pitchers for another season you have to believe his numbers will only go up.
