Joe Mauer and the Twins put on a spectacular hitting display in the first game of a Series in Oakland last night. The Twins extended their win streak to 4 games with a 9-4 victory over the A’s. Mauer finished the game htting 1-3 with 2 runs and a hit by pitch.
Scott Sauerbeck had it out for Mauer. He buzzed him with the first pitch high and inside. The following pitch beaned him in the right shoulder. From a fan’s perspective, it would seem like intentional, but in reality Sauerbeck might just be that bad.
Mauer still leads the league in hitting at .350, which is only .004 points over Derek Jetter, who is having a hot second half. Since the Tigers did not play yesterday, the Twins victory moved them to only 1.5 games back from 1st place in the AL Central.
