Usually the offseason is slow for players this time of the year. The season just ended and trade talks and winter ball don’t start for a few more months. Plus, Joe Mauer is at the point in his career where he doesn’t have to play winter ball anymore. He’s proven himself to be a bonafide starter for the Twins.
So what does Joe Mauer do in the offseason?
Well, according to MLB.com, Joe Mauer among 23 other players, was selected to the Major League team and will travel to Japan to play 6 games. First up is the Yomiuri Giants on November 2nd.
This marks the 10th time since 1986 that MLB has taken a traveling All-Star team to Japan.
Being a great player comes with tons of benefits. Traveling to Japan to play ball is one of them.
