Should Joe Mauer be moved up in the Twins lineup for next season. It’s been argued that Mauer is more of a 2 hole hitter than batting 3rd. He was put in the 3rd spot because of his ability to get on base. Joe simply doesn’t have the power to generate big RBI numbers that the Twins need. Mauer ended the season with only 13 homeruns and 84 RBI’s. Those numbers won’t cut it in the 3rd spot.

So what can the Twins do to generate more power from their lineup. If the Twins are able to grab a power hitting free agent (insert Alfonso Soriano’s name here), then they can move Mauer up in the lineup. This is will generate more runners on base and more run scoring opportunities.
