The Twins finally offered Joe Mauer a $3.3 million dollar contract. That is quite a nice raise from the $400,000 he was making last year. However it was not quite enough. Mauer has been asking for $4.5 million. If Mauer doesn’t accept the $3.3 million, and why would he? and the Twins don’t up their offer, then the case will be sent to arbitration, where three lawyers will look at the offers and pick a fair salary.

I don’t think it’s out of the question that Mauer be paid in the $4+ million range.. he is the best catcher in baseball.
