Spring Training is underway in Major League baseball, with the Twins playing their first game of the 2007 seasno on February 28th. This is an exciting time of year for baseball fans. We’ve been off for 3-4 months now, and there couldn’t be anything better than the start of spring training.
I mentioned in previous posts what Mauer needs to work on. I think one of the most important things for him to work on is building chemistry with Sidney Ponson. Ponson used to be a big time hurler, but in recent years has declined. His stint in Minnesota could very well be his last in the majors if he doesn’t pick things up.
This is where Joe comes in. I think Mauer has the ability to control Ponson on the mound. Mauer is an excellent teacher and motivator to pitchers. If he has straighten Ponson out and turn him into a legit #3 starter, the Twins might have the best rotation in all of baseball.
More Spring Training news to come as it develops.
