Joe Mauer is having a nice Spring Training so far. He’s batting .333 (slightly below is seaosn average if you can believe it) and has 1 dinger. Mauer wasn’t too worried about improving his hitting this Spring. What he wanted to work on most was his defense.
People seem to be asking the question: Can Mauer Top Last Season? While I don’t think we should be asking ourselves that..I mean anything Mauer does will be a positive for this franchise. So if he hits .330 with 15 homeruns are we going to consider it a bad season because he didn’t top what he did last year? No. We can’t just look at batting stats. We have to look at fielding too, and that’s one area that Mauer will top from last year.
