Previously listed at 6-foot-4, the Twins media guide now has Joe Mauer at 6-foot-5 and the catcher said Wednesday that he’s closer to 6-foot-6.
Even prior to the growth spurt Mauer’s height had some convinced that he wouldn’t stay behind the plate long term. “I’ve been growing ever since last year,” Mauer said. “I don’t want to get too big, or I might have to move [positions]. Hopefully I’ll grow the other way. I’d like to get a little stronger, but I don’t know about taller.”
