Even though they could use him as a DH, the Twins don’t plan to activate Joe Mauer until he can catch regularly.

“He hasn’t done any running or squatting,” Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. “So he’s a ways away. There’s no timetable. We want him to be able to catch. I don’t want him to take off running and pop something.”

I tend to agree with what the Twins are doing. They are struggling a bit without him, but this is a long season and he needs to be 100% when he returns. Who’s to say they use Joe as a DH and then he hits a triple and hurts himself running the bases.
