Primary backup Mike Redmond (finger) is still a few days away as well, leaving the Twins with only Chris Heintz as a healthy option. The Twins may be forced to call up a fourth outfielder, perhaps Jose Morales or Matthew LeCroy.”

The Twins don’t need to rush Mauer back. Their season is practically over. They’re 12.5 games out of first place and 9 games out of the Wild Card. Time to pack your bags Joe and don’t risk further injury.
