the Minnesota Twins have traded Matt Garza to the Tampa Bay Rays for their outfielder, Delmon Young. This is all part of a multiplayer deal, where this exchange of the superb young hitter Young for the talented young pitcher Garza was the focus of the trade off.

in addition to this exchange, the Twins sent shortstop Jason Bartlett and reliever Eduardo Morlan to Tampa Bay for their infielder Brendan Harris and Jason Pridie, the minor league outfielder.

This deal is not expected to affect discussions for Santana as the Twins would still be on the lookout for young and affordable talent for Santana. With center fielder Torii Hunter agreeing to a $90 million free-agent contract with Angels, the Twins have announced with teams that they are pursuing Santana as they need a center fielder.
