Our last post suggested that Joe might have to undergo hernia surgery, well, it has come out now that he will opt not to have the surgery. That’s good news for Joe assuming he can stay healthy and rehab properly in the offseason.

In other news, The Twins are not bringing Torii Hunter back. Hunetr rejected a 3 year, $45 million contract from the Twins. This means a couple of things.

• The Twins now have freed up money to spend on Mauer
• The Twins could be going cheap, and Mauer may not be with them much longer
• Mauer will need to step up next season with Hunter gone
