The baseball legend Barry Bonds faces the possibility of facing four counts of perjury and a count of obstruction of justice for his lying to investigators about the use of steroids.

If he gets convicted, he stands the chance of spending a maximum of 30 years in prison. Reports in US also say that long time Bonds trainer, Greg Anderson who was convicted in the BALCO scandal, was ordered to be released.

Though Anderson had served his BALCO sentence, he was behind bars for not testifying against Bonds to the grand jury investigating Bonds’s lying. His releases indicate that he may have cooperated and provided investigators with the required breakthrough.

Bonds is thus charged with willfully and knowingly making false material statements about his usage of anabolic steroids while under oath. However Bonds, with 762 home runs to his names still denies taking any steroids.
