Closer Manny Corpas and the Rockies have come to terms on entering into a four-year contract paying a base salary of $8 million. An extension of the contract up to two years will bring a total more than $22 million.

According to sources, there are two club options for the deal. Once the first club option is exercised, he would be earning more than $ 13 million and if the second option is chosen, an amount more than $22 million. Final paper work is being completed by both the parties.

The Major League service time of Corpas is one year and seventy four days and with such experience level, this is the largest deal for a closer. Usually players with this experience level would be making around $390,000 a year, which is somewhat above the Major League minimum.

Corpas completed a regular season with 19 saves in an overall 22 chances, with 4-2 record and 2.08 ERA. During playoffs, he converted five of his six chances and was 1-0 with a 0.87 ERA.
