Oakland Athletics’ catcher Jeremy Brown will not be coming back to Spring Training since he will be quitting for personal s. As a result, the Athletics agreed to terms on a minor league deal with catcher Matt LeCroy to help fill the absence of Brown’s departure.

All five games played in 2006, non-roster invitee to camp this year, he batted .276 with 14 home runs and 58 RBI for Triple-A Sacramento in 2007.

LeCroy, taking up Brown’s position, has spent seven major league seasons with the Minnesota Twins and has a .260 career average with 60 home runs and 218 RBI. He played seven games for the Twins with 20 at-bats and for most of the last season, he was with Triple-A Rochester. He played for the Washington Nationals in 2006
