By the end of this week Roger Clemens will know if Congress McNamee says he injected Clemens with hormone and steroids at least 16 times between the years 1998 and 2001. Clemens denies taking such performance-enhancing drugs. At depositions, both Clemens and McNamee firmly stood with their stories. At present the issue is whether Congress might have been lied to by Clemens or Brian McNamee.

Congress got involved after hearing Clemens constantly denied McNamee’s allegations after they were mentioned in former Senate majority leader George Mitchell’s report on drug use in baseball. The Justice Department can then choose to open an inquiry or to completely drop the matter.
