The response for the letter sent by the Congressional Committee to the Department of Justice regarding the Clemens’s case has arrived. The FBI will be initiating an official investigation to determine whether Clemens has committed perjury in sworn testimony. Clemens denied taking performance enhancing drugs during a hearing with the Congress.
According to the Associated Press report, the focal point of the inquiry will be whether McNamee or Clemens lied about the use of performance enhancing drugs during their testimony under oath.
According to McNamee, Clemens was injected several times with steroids over a three-year period. However, Clemens insisted that he never used steroids or any other performance enhancing drugs.
Rusty Hardin, Clemens’ lawyer, did not sound upset when he heard about the recommendation of the Committee regarding the investigation. He said Clemens was aware that his denials would eventually lead to an investigation.
Hardin commented that he is actually looking forward to this case moving to the court of law and out of the court of public opinion.
