On May 26, 2006 Governor Tim Pawlenty signed the ballpark legislation into law and the new ballpark officially became a reality. Work on the site began on May 21, 2007 with the official groundbreaking for the stadium taking place on August 30. The year 2015 has been targeted by the Twins to host the Major League Baseball All-Star Game.

The Twins are paying $15 million of the $105 million cost of the ballpark and infrastructure costs. Now the Twins ownership is covering another $22 million for additional upgrades. This additional financial commitment increases the ownership stakes to $152 million, thereby putting the total cost of the project at $412 million.

This 40,000 seat ballpark will be an open air facility. The additional comfort areas in this open space will allow fans to enjoy a cool drink when it is hot or get warm on cold days. If you purchase season tickets between now and the opening of the new ballpark, it will establish your priority for seats in the new ballpark. The earlier you purchase and retain your season tickets, the better priority you will receive when the new ballpark opens.
