The early fan catches the baseball game, or so was the scenario as fans of the Boston Red Sox and the Oakland Athletics woke up extremely early to catch opening day day game between the 2 clubs.

Why so early? Well, they weren’t exactly following their own time zone. They were subscribing to Japan’s! The opening game was held in Japan to promote the MLB to the baseball loving Japanese. It is said that fans enjoyed their sausages with scrambled eggs and hash browns instead. Bar’s who opened early for the game could not even serve beer as it is illegal to do so before 8 a.m. This proved to be a highly unusual, albeit amusing way to kick off things for the new baseball season!

For the Red Sox fans, the earlier than usual alarm did not go to waste. Their team managed to pull off a good first victory for the season.

The unlucky Oakland fans not only suffered their first loss, but they had to wake up earlier- 3 a.m. to be exact- to catch the game.

Such are the nuances to consider as the MLB expands its reach around the globe.
