At the formal opening of the 2008 Baseball Season, President Bush will once again made the 1st Pitch. This is his 6th time and is always an honor reserved for the president.
The Washington Nationals will go against the Atlanta Braves in the opening game.
This day also marks the opening of Washington’s brand new riverfront stadium. It is said to have cost around $611 million. Because of this, President Bush is also the first person to take the mound in the new stadium.
Bush has long been known as a sports buff and baseball fan. He seemed very happy to do the honors. It is said that he even practiced a week before.
Bush will visit both teams before the game starts. Acta, the National’s manager is expected to catch the first pitch.
