The ties are cut for Steven Spielberg and the Olympic committee. The acclaimed director pulled out his participation on the upcoming China Olympics as his sign of protest to China’s ongoing support to the Darfur atrocities.
Spielberg was supposed to be a consultant and adviser to the ceremony’s opening and closing programs. He has been quoted as saying that he “could no longer live with his conscience over his position”.
China has been a noted Ally of the Sudanese government, buying its oil and selling it weapons and arms.
Spielberg’s announcement has suddenly put into question many others’ participation in the 2008 games.
