There’s a new kid in town in the world of cycling. Taylor Phinney. The seventeen year old is the son of US road star Davis Phinney and Olympic gold medalist Connie Carpenter Phinney. But this kid isn’t making a name because of his famous parent’s, he’s come into his own acclaim after clocking in at 4:22:36.

His time qualifies him to compete in China come August. What is amazing is this kid only entered the world of competitive cycling 6 months ago.

We’ll have to look out for him at the 2008 Olympics, and see if he truly does follow in his mom’s footsteps of getting a gold medal too!
