Even though he finished 2007 with a lousy season, the Twins still traded for Monroe. A lot of people were probably wondering if the Twins were crazy.

Turns out, it’s all about strategy. The Twins need a right handed batter that was always ready to come off the bench. And that’s what they got with Craig Monroe.

The Minnesota Twins initially wanted to upgrade their bench. They thought that a veteran was better suited to the job than some new guy. Bench guys are expected to do pinch hits, which may be hard work for someone who is relatively new.

Before, Monroe killed the Twins in past game. Now, the Twins are hopeful that with his help, they can kill some of the other clubs too!
